Section 142 covered miscellaneous transitional situations – treatment of goods returned, price revisions, pending refund/appeal claims and long-term contracts spanning the pre- and post-GST periods.
What this means in practice
The parts that actually decide cases — the things a practitioner checks first.
142(11)(c) – the double-tax situation where VAT and service tax were both paid before GST – still supports a credit claim where a demand for that period surfaces.
Refund claims filed under the old laws are decided under those laws, and a rejection is refunded in cash, not as credit.
How this provision is built
The skeleton, clause by clause — useful when a notice cites a specific sub-clause.
